Placemaking. Reasons to stop and stay.

Footfall is not the same as dwell time. The installations that hold people in a space have to be well made, safe to touch and easy to move, because they live outside a shop window and in front of everyone. We build them in Cardiff and install them ourselves.

Featured Scheme

National Waterfront Museum, Swansea

A welcome desk, interpretation podiums and bilingual dimensional lettering for a busy public attraction. Everything had to work for visitors and for the staff behind it, and be robust enough for a building that never really closes.

Placemaking FAQs

The Questions We Get Asked.

What is placemaking in a retail or town centre context?

Placemaking is the physical work that gives a public space a reason to be visited rather than passed through. In practice that means feature installations, seating, giant lettering, photo moments, event structures and interpretation, designed so people stop, stay longer and share the space online.

Do you design as well as build?

We work either way. Some clients arrive with a designer's visual and need someone who can actually build and install it. Others bring a brief and a budget and we develop the concept, the buildability and the drawings ourselves.

Can installations be moved or reused?

Yes, and it is usually the smarter spend. We build modular, demountable pieces with lifting and fixing points designed in, so a centre can move an installation between courts, store it seasonally and reinstall it without damage.

Do you handle public safety and compliance?

We build to the loading and stability expectations of public spaces, provide method statements and risk assessments, and install out of hours where a centre requires it. Anything the public can touch or climb is engineered on that basis.

Tell Us About The Space.

A plan, a photo of the mall or a rough concept is enough to start. We will come back with buildability, safety notes and a price.
